Nicotine

It is commonly known that the chemicals in tobacco smoke such as nicotine have an extremly negative influence on the fertility of both partners. In addition, tobacco smoking as well as being exposed to second hand smoke during pregnancy can affect the baby's health and development. Children of smokers are usually smaller, having a lower birth-weight and after birth are a lot more susceptible to diseases.

Stop smoking 2 -3 months before starting a treatment can definetly enhance your chance of giving birth to a healthy baby. Scientific studies have shown that nicotine abuse lowers the chances of getting pregnant and carrying a child to full term without complications by 50%. This also applies for couples with only one partner smoking.
