The indications for sperm donation are :

After surgical removal of both testis.

After chemotherapy and radiotherapy, due to malignant diseases.

For some unknown reasons the testis function can be reduced in such a way , that no sperm is produced. Even after surgical removal of testicular tissue it is impossible to find sperm cells, because they are not being produced.
When there is a family history of genetic defects or malformation, sperm donation should be considered, even when the testis function is normal.
If the female partner is healthy, sperm donation can be used for fertilization to achieve a pregnancy.
The combination of donor sperm and in vitro fertilization or ICSI is not legal in Austria, Italy and Germany. It is legal in Switzerland and Czech Republic.
