Requirements for donors:
1.) Age: at least 20 years old, max. 35 years old
2.) The donor has to be healthy and should not have any hereditary diseases. The donor's family (2nd degree of relationship) should not carry any diseases.
3.) The donor should not have any infectious diseases. The sperm samples should show no risk for infections. The following parameters will get tested:
Anti-HIV-1,2
HBsAg
Anti-HBc
Anti-HCV-Ab
The serum- or plasmasamples of the donors have to react negatively to HIV1 and 2, HBV and Syphilis according to Anhang II Nummer 1.1; the urine samples of the sperm donors have to react negatively when testing for chlamydiae with the Nukleinsäure-Amplifikationsverfahren (NAT).
4.) The sperm quality has to be normal (nach WHO-Kriterien).
5.) The personal data needed from the donor: Blood type, rhesus factor, height, weight, hair colour, eye colour and descent. He should not be part of a risk group, for example take drugs, be promiscuous, be homosexual, etc.
The blood samples have to be taken at the time of the sperm donation.
A maximum of 3 treatements, leading to a pregnancy, is allowed for each donor.
All samples get deep-frozen. After checking for infections (Hepatitis B, C, HIV) six months after deep-freezing the last probe, the sperm can be used for donation.
According to the Austrian Fortpflanzungsmedizingesetz, the donor can only donate his sperm at a hospital and he has to be aware of the law concerning sperm donation.
